Sales Associates

Peterson Pool and Spas Inc., is seeking Salespersons to sell big ticket items such as Pools, Spas, Saunas, Outdoor Living space, kitchen/fireplace units, and grills at both of our Elk River and Minnetonka locations. Peterson Pools is one of the leading in ground pool builders and spa sellers in the Twin City area.  We offer a competitive wage and good working environment.  Peterson Pools is a family owned business since 1982.

Position Summary
Includes but are not limited to:

  • Assist walk-in and phone customers in a timely manner, representing the company professionally.
  • Generate sales leads and maintain customer relationships.
  • Determine make, type, and quality of merchandise desired. Suggest selections that meet customer’s needs.
  • Emphasize sellable features, quote prices on various models and accessories, and prepare sales orders for orders obtained.
  • Assist customers with technical and operations questions.
  • Arrange product demos as needed.
  • Enter new customer data and other sales data for current customers into computer database.
  • Periodically cover all retail floor operations.
  • Maintain neat, professional product displays.
  • Actively create and promote sales specials by various media means such as social media.
  • Make customer pre-sale and post-sale follow up contacts. May visit customer homes to demonstrate operations or in-house consultations.

Qualifications

  • Strong customer centered attitude.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of pool products, chemistry, and pool maintenance but not required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and work around chemicals.
  • Cash Handling Skills.
  • Can-Do attitude.

Training on pool, patio, and spa products available.
Growth opportunities in Management and in-ground pool sales
Variable hours on days, evenings, and weekends. Base hourly pay plus commissions.


Pool/Spa Service Technician

Responsible for maintaining a positive interaction experience between Peterson Pools and Spas and its customers by providing installations and repairs to pools, spas, and powered pool covers.

Position Responsibilities

  • Responsible for in-field repair and installation of pool and spa products.
  • Work close with others in the Service Department to ensure operations are seamless.
  • Responsible for accurate recording of inventory use, work performed on customer work orders, and job logs.
  • Properly operate, maintain, and store all maintenance equipment.
  • Keep Peterson trucks clean and organized, as well as notifying managers of any maintenance issues as they develop.
  • Maintain a professional customer attitude while on-site.
  • Actively sell upgrades and replacement equipment that may be desirable by customers.
  • Perform other related duties as directed.

Job Requirements

  • Possess a valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Time management, have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a quality manner.
  • Working knowledge of pool equipment and pool water chemistry.
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, gas, construction, fabrication, and building materials. Other maintenance skills are desirable.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

Work indoors and outdoors. Long hours and aggressive timelines can be required during peak times to service all customers timely. Physical ability is required to lift heavy and bulky objects (up to 80 lbs). Need the ability to work in hot, cold, wet conditions. Mechanically inclined, verbal, and written capabilities required.

Pool Care Provider

Responsible for maintaining a positive relation between Peterson Pools and Spas and its customers while ensuring clean and balanced water in pools, spas, and water features.

Position Duties

  • Responsible for cleaning and inspecting swimming pools for maintenance, identifying issues for repairs, and working closely with the Service Department to ensure operations are seamless.
  • Responsible for maintaining a healthy pool by checking water chemistry and correcting any deficiencies. Cleaning includes surface brushing, vacuuming and wiping pool and equipment surfaces, removing debris from skimmer baskets, pump baskets and maintaining a clean pool filter. Responsible for recording inventory use, weekly and monthly job logs, as well as accurate customer billing.
  • Properly operate, maintain and store all maintenance equipment. Candidate should be willing to perform other duties as directed.

  • Possess a valid and clean driver’s license.
  • Time management, have the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines and complete tasks in a quality manner.
  • Able to work outdoors in acclimate weather.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
  • Working knowledge of pool equipment, chemicals, and other general maintenance skills, a plus.

Retail Associate

  • Cashier must have a strong customer service attitude to be successful.
  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.
  • Understands and follows cash handling policies and procedures including register till count at the beginning and end of a shift.
  • Ability to work varied hours/days including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to effectively communicate policies and procedures in a manner easily understood by the customer and associates.
  • Operates a POS system receiving payments of cash, checks and credit card charges from customers or associates for goods, making change and issuing receipts.
  • Maintains proper security of cash at all times.
  • Ensuring phones are answered promptly and politely.
  • Being aware of all promotions, advertisements, and merchandise.
  • Assists with front-end merchandising, store cleanliness, and organization throughout the day.
  • Additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of pool products, chemistry, and pool maintenance, a plus.

Full Time and Part time positions available at both Elk River and Minnetonka locations!

This is a seasonal job: April through November.


Pool Construction

Building In-ground pools and installation of all pool related equipment. Pools are steel wall, or polymer-based wall construction with vinyl liners. Care and respect of customer property during construction expected. Work as a team, with efficiency, per foreman’s lead. Work is performed mainly outdoors in hot, cold, and wet conditions. Aggressive timelines and long hours can be expected to work around adverse weather conditions. Equipment and tools provided.

Job Requirements

  • Mechanical and construction skill aptitude.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Customer centered attitude.
  • Skid Steer/Bobcat skills helpful.
  • Masonry/Concrete skills helpful.
  • Prior pool construction experience preferred.
  • Able to work in hot, cold, and wet conditions.
  • Able to lift 80 lbs.
  • Prior experience and/or high performance can lead to advancement to Crew Lead, or Foreman positions.

Bookkeeper / HR Manager

Peterson Pools and Spas is currently looking for a Bookkeeper with HR and benefits experience. Candidate must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work in a fast-paced peak summer season. This position handles all financial and HR functions for the company. Peterson Pools is a flexible, fun, casual, atmosphere that wants a strong bookkeeper willing help the company succeed financially. Must be willing to develop and help enforce company policies and procedures as well as participate in business initiatives and planning. Provide guidance and best practice advice to business owner about the financial performance of their organization. Health, dental, and vacation benefits available.

Responsibilities:

    • Human Resource functions including writing and posting job ads, ensuring employee hiring paperwork is complete, perform background checks, maintain employee files, keep current with labor law and postings, write and update employee manual, develop and update safety program according to OSHA.
    • Administrate benefits, including health, HSA, dental, life, and workers compensation. Participate in WC insurance audits annually.
    • Payroll. Process Bi-weekly for 8-40 FT/PT and seasonal employees using ADP. Handle garnishment and child support IWO’s, 1099’s and W-2’s. Post to general ledger. Calculate service bonuses.
    • Daily Sales reporting and tracking. Report sales from Microsoft RMS, isolate special sales. Track sales by store. Journal entry into QuickBooks. Post daily credit card and cash deposits made.
    • Accounts Payable. Collect invoices and match to receiving documents for Accounting Purposes. Process and pay general invoices, utility bills, loans, and contractors. Maintain vendor records. Pay invoices within payment terms.
    • Accounts Receivable. Close billing cycle and run A/R report. Evaluate customers for special circumstances and past dues. Send statements as appropriate. Make calls to past dues, utilize Transworld Systems service for collections as needed.
    • Cash Deposits. Count, verify, and deliver to bank.
    • Sales and Use Tax. Calculate, track, and accrue Use taxes for construction projects. File and pay via MNDOR online monthly.
    • Month/Year End. Review and reconcile all accounts for accuracy. Reconcile checkbooks and credit cards. Reconcile A/R. Run other period end reports. Reconcile petty cash. Archive files at year end
    • Financial Statements. Review for accuracy and report, including borrowing base certification and other bank requirements. Coordinate with CPA at year end.
    • Maintain and order office and print material supplies.

Requirements:

  • 3 years of Bookkeeping experience.
  • Associates degree in accounting.
  • HR/Benefits experience desired.
  • Retail, service, or construction accounting experience a plus.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Excel, Quick Books, Microsoft RMS and Outlook E-mail.
